GoDaddy, the company that helps businesses and individuals with website domain names and hosting, sees the process becoming a whole lot easier in 2014.
In the past, folks setting up their sites worried about whether to take the .com setting, or settle for a .biz or .net if .com wasn't available.
But in the coming weeks, some 800 new alternatives will become available, including .lawyer, .doctor, .pizza and other more relevant names. That's the word from Blake Irving, CEO of GoDaddy. The new offerings will be "more descriptive of your business," said Irving.
GoDaddy is offering pre-registration now on its website for names like .photographer, .bike and .plumbing, and plans to open up 20 new ones on a weekly basis through the year.
