Claro Search is a browser hijack program that changes browser home page and default search engine to claro-search.com. Apart from doing this, it also adds a Claro Toolbar on your browser which takes over your browser each time you open a new tab. To worsen the situation, it will display their own ads on your first search results.
Claro search often gets to computers when installing
programs that have Claro search bundled in them. Therefore, one needs to take
care when installing programs. I made
this mistake and I tried all I could, including uninstalling the program, but it
did not work. However, I found a solution and I am ready to share the solution
with you right now.
Let’s get started:
1. Go to the Windows Start Menu
2. Select Control Panel
3. Select Add/Remove Programs (on Windows Vista or 7, select Control Panel then "Uninstall a Program")
4. Find "Claro LTD toolbar" in the list. Select the program and click the "Remove" button (for Windows Vista/7, click uninstall up near the top of that window)
5. After that, find "Browser Manager" in the list. Select the program and click "Remove" (or "uninstall")
To remove Claro
Search from Mozilla Firefox
1.
Go to Tools>Options
2. Under the General tab, go to Home page and
delete the Claro search url. Replace it with www.google.com.
This will change your homepage to google.com.
3. Next, click the drop down menu in the search box
at the top right hand corner of your Firefox start page.
4.
Click “manage search engines” and select claro search.
5.
Click Remove
to remove Claro search and OK to save settings.
6.
Finally, you have to revert all browser
configuration changes. To do this, type “about.config” (without quotes) in your
URL bar and hit the enter key.
7. Accept the disclaimer and you will be shown the
about.config settings for your browser.
8.
Search for all configurations that have claro
and Babylon. Right click each of them and select reset.
9. Quit Firefox and restart your browser. You will
find out that the claro toolbar and search URL have disappeared.
In my next post, I will show you how
to remove the Claro search URL and Toolbar from internet explorer.
